New episode in da House ... NOT!
After the Super Bowl, Fox showed a new episode of "House". I'm a big Hugh Laurie fan, from "Blackadder" to "A Bit of Fry and Laurie" to "House", so I was pleased. Especially since new episodes of my favorite shows have been scarce with the writer's strike going on. (Which is OK; if you ask me the writers deserve all they're asking for and more)
So later on, I selected the episode from the TiVo menu and started it ... and got the last 15 minutes of the Super Bowl post-game coverage.
Then "House" started, and my daughter piped up with "Dad...skip to the end and make sure we got the whole episode."
I did, and we didn't. The stupid network didn't push a schedule update to the TiVo, and it cheerfully recorded exactly an hour of video, including the last 15 minutes of the Stupor Bowl and the first 45 of "House".
Perusal of "Upcoming Showings" in the "House" Season Pass showed NO repeats of the episode. We'll have to wait for reruns, or BitTorrent it.
Sigh.

I knew that it was a possibility that that would happen, so i deliberatly set my dvr to record for an extra hour. However, the machine decided on it's own to stop after an hour and record the slot afterward for fox news. My end result is the same as yours. 45 minutes and then...nothing. I AM SO MAD!!!

Hi, Samantha! Welcome. I think you may be the first non-spammer commenter that I didn't already know. Spiffy!
I can imagine that if one has a regular show set to record, it might take precedence over casual "record *this*" commands, but that strikes me as broken. WHat the user specifically asks for should take precedence over automatic stuff, IMHO.
I've actually discussed this with TiVo designers, and they say it's extraordinarily difficult to build a UI that's powerful and feature-rich while still keeping it simple enough that our grandmas can figure it out.

Yeah -- and now I hear that TiVo *WAS* set 15 minutes late, but the postgame stuff ran HALF AN HOUR over. Sheesh. It's "Heidi" all over again, in reverse.
